Dream Lover

This song was made famous by Bobby Darin back in the 1960's.  To me the cute melody has always stood out.  It makes a wonderful song to sing to a little girl...or even a little boy...if you change the words a bit.  All lullabies don't have to be dreary and slow.  Why not sing this one to your little one.  I am sure it will bring a smile to your face and calm a crying eye.

There is a Castle on a Cloud

This song was introduced to me when I was in High School.  It is from the musical Les Miserables by Claude-Michel Schonberg.  The whole musical is full of beautiful melodies, but this one always stood out to me.  I have sung this song many times to my children.  I have altered the words slightly to be better adapted for singing as a lullaby.  (Altered words will be italicized).

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

This is a song originating from South Africa in 1939.  Having been covered by many artists and groups internationally, it became a number one hit sung by the Tokens in 1961.  It has also been featured in the Disney Movie, The Lion King.  This was one of my favourite songs to sing to my two oldest boys when they were small.

Down in the Valley (a variation)

This is a traditional American folk song.  The melody is very beautiful, however, I am not really a fan of all the verses...in terms of making a great lullaby.  My favourite verse is...the second...I added a suggested third verse....but you can try making up one on your own...give it a try!

A Bushel and A Peck

This is a cute song that was written in 1950 for the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls by Frank Loesser.   It has an upbeat melody that will make you smile.  Many covers have been done including the Andrew's Sisters, Doris Day, Veggie Tales and Sharon, Lois, and Bram.  My littlest children loved this song.  Give it a try!

Kaiden's Lullaby

Here is a song that I wrote for my littlest son when he was small.  He still asks for it...which makes me smile.  I borrowed the melody from Dvorak's New World Symphony (Largo).  I am not the first person to write words to this melody.  William Arms Fisher made this melody popular in 1922 when he wrote the song,"Going Home" There is a beautiful version of "Goin' Home" sung by Libera on Youtube.
